The UEFA Women's Euros 2022 is set to begin this Wednesday, so let's have a look at which of our Blues have been called up for international duty. With the opening game of the tournament between England and Austria at Old Trafford, twelve of our Chelsea Women have been gearing up for international action and will be hoping to lead their countries to the Euros final at Wembley...   Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany) Ann-Katrin Berger only joined the international scene in 2018 when she received her first call-up. However, two years passed before she got to make her international debut which came against Germany’s defeat of the Republic of Ireland. Berger now has two caps for Germany and has managed to secure a place in the 2022 Euros squad. Berger has had a tumultuous ride as she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2017. Although her domestic form has not been as good as previously, Berger continues to play at an incredibly high level, signing from Birmingham to Chelsea in 2019.

It's OKAY to be GAY

Blackpool forward Jake Daniels is the first English professional football player to come out as gay since 1990. Jake is a 19-year-old forward that plays for Blackpool Football Club – oh and he’s gay. I say that nonchalantly because it isn’t a big deal, or at least it shouldn’t be. Ian Ladyman said it best when he commented that when he refers to Jake Daniels in the future, he will be referring to him as a footballer and a footballer only. When the news broke that a male professional footballer had announced that he was gay, the first thing I did was take a deep breath and open Twitter. I was expecting a huge back lash of homophobic content, but I was pleasantly surprised. There were barely any negative comments or responses to the news. In this day and age ‘coming out’ is still accompanied with overwhelming anxiety, fear and often heartache rather than as a celebration of freedom, personhood and clarity. Summer Signings at Stamford Bridge

  Well, the summer transfer window has now shut, and our squad is locked in until the winter window opens in January. The Blues seem to have faced a lot of backlash for their signings or lack thereof this transfer window. After what has been a less than impressive pre-season for Chelsea and a tumultuous start to the Premier League season, Chelsea fans have been calling for change/additions to be made to the squad. If you look at Chelsea’s form in their last fifteen Premier League games, Chelsea has bottom-half form and their slow start to the season seems to be continuing even after spending £140 million on Koulibaly, Cucurella and Sterling. The key issue going into the transfer window was to replace the missing pieces of the backline after the likes of Rudiger and Christensen left, however now the Blues have padded this out a little more with Koulibaly, Cucurella and now Fofana, the goal-scoring and play-making roles within the squad are what is crying out for attention.
